Kaduna Announces Date For LG Elections

The Kaduna State Security Council has announced a restriction on movement throughout the state from 6 AM to 7 PM on Saturday, October 19, 2024, in preparation for the local government elections.

This measure aims to ensure a peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections.

In a statement issued by the State Overseeing Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, the government emphasized that all vehicular movements, along with commercial and other related activities that could disrupt law and order, must cease during the specified hours.

The statement clarified that only individuals performing essential duties would be exempt from this restriction, and they must possess proper identification and clearance to move during this period.

Residents have been advised to refrain from any actions that could disrupt public peace or affect the smooth conduct of the elections.

The statement further indicated that security agencies have been deployed across the state to enforce the movement restriction and ensure compliance.

Additionally, members of the public are urged to promptly report any activities that threaten law and order to security agencies, reinforcing the message that citizens should refrain from taking the law into their own hands.

As the state prepares for the elections, the Security Council’s proactive measures reflect a commitment to maintaining peace and order during this critical democratic exercise.
