Pictures of Super Eagles of Nigerian footballers sleeping on airport seats in Libya have emerged as the Nigeria Football Federation continues to work on flying them back to the country.

Note that the football authorities in Libya have held the Super Eagles hostage at the Al Abraq Airport since Sunday, October 13 ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Libya on Tuesday, October 15.

Pictures from the airport showed the likes of Calvin Bassey of Fulham sleeping while seated on a seat wearing the national team tracksuit.

Also, the national team captain, William Troost-Ekong, was seen making himself comfortable on one of the seats as he slept peacefully amid the chaos.

As for Victor Boniface, the Bayer Leverkusen striker couldn’t sleep as he remained awake with headphones on and seated uncomfortably in front of a laptop.

A report by the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) said the Chairman House Committee on Sports, Kabiru Amadu, had condemned the ill-treatment of the Super Eagles in Libya.

Amadu stressed that the antics of the Libyan Football Federation have gone beyond football, and the government of the country is projecting a negative image of African football.

He hailed the Super Eagles players for remaining patriotic amid the chaotic situation, adding that the government of Nigeria prioritizes their safety.
