A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Osun State, Peter Babalola, has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
While declaring his allegiance to the APC, Babalola vowed to use his political influence to bolster the party, especially in the Irewole local government area and across the Osun West Senatorial district.
In a speech during his official induction into the APC by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, in Ikire, Babalola pledged to ensure the APC’s sweeping victory in the upcoming local government elections in the state.
“I have instructed my supporters across all 30 local government areas and 332 wards in Osun State to register as APC members,” he said.
The former Chief of Staff of Osun also cautioned Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration to refrain from any attempts to manipulate the electoral process in favour of the PDP during the upcoming local government elections.
Babalola indicated that the national chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, is expected to visit Osogbo shortly to welcome the new member formally into the party.
In his remark, on behalf of the Minister, the APC State Secretary, Alao Kamorudeen, conveyed the assurance that the party is poised to secure a significant victory in the imminent local government elections and future national elections.
“Party members need to rally behind the leadership and support their candidates in ensuring comprehensive success in the elections.
“Be assured that the APC-led administration remains committed to providing strong leadership, particularly in rural areas. Our members should begin mobilising immediately,” he said.
He urged party members to go back to their individual political wards to register and assert their influence.
Senatorial leaders and party members from the 30 local government areas within the Osun West Senatorial district gathered to welcome Peter Babalola into the state APC formally.
Peter Babalola, who previously served as the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Osun State College of Education in Ila-Orangun, was noted by DAILY POST to have been suspended from the ward executives of the PDP in Irewole local government in August.
Naija News understands that before his suspension, Babalola had also submitted his resignation letter from the PDP.
