In a scathing critique of President Bola Tinubu, activist and politician Aisha Yesufu has labelled the president a “bad person” amid the ongoing economic challenges facing Nigeria.
Yesufu’s comments come in response to recent remarks made by Senator Ali Ndume, who attributed the nation’s economic woes to the president’s close associates.
Senator Ndume, representing Borno South, had expressed his concerns that certain individuals surrounding Tinubu are responsible for implementing “harmful policies” that have exacerbated the economic situation rather than addressing pressing issues like inflation and stabilizing the exchange rate.
He highlighted the alarming rise in prices of fuel, food, and essential goods, urging the administration to take immediate action.
Yesufu echoed Ndume’s sentiments, emphasizing that the current state of the economy reflects poorly on the leadership at the helm.
The activist criticized Tinubu’s government for failing to alleviate the suffering of ordinary Nigerians, asserting that the president’s decisions and those he surrounds himself with are detrimental to the country’s welfare.
Ndume had said, “Those who are bent on making the President look bad will stop at nothing in inflicting pain on Nigerians through the so-called reforms until things get out of hand, and the blame will be on President Tinubu.
“I believe President Tinubu means well for Nigeria and Nigerians. I know this because I know what he stands for. But some of his advisers who don’t mean well to the people of this country give him wrong advice.”
Reacting in a post on X, Yesufu wrote,“Tinubu is the bad person. Call a spade a spade and not a garden implement.”
